Engagements

  • My most popular session. Hiding in a bush, behind a car, waiting for a proposal. Or, you’ve already asked the question, and you need photos to remember in this moment in life. Or, you just need some for the wedding invitation.

300$ for an hour session usually provides 25 to 40 photographs. I like to give you my best without limiting your options. I also include black and white renditions- sometimes it just looks better that way!

I’m proud of the work I do. I’m honored to be a part of one of the most important days of your life, and I take your moment seriously.

Portraits

  • $250 for 10-15 high res, studio quality photos.

Location of your choice (I can always help give recommendations).

Portrait sessions rarely take over 30 minutes. You know what you need, and I know how to get it. I spend a lot of time in post-production editing and correct small details that focus on the eyes, features, and overall goal of the photo. Sometimes this is a rough and gritty look, sometimes it is clean and soft. There’s a large spectrum for creative expression here, but for that job interview sometimes less is more.

Good for: resumé/linkedIn, Graduation photos, special occasions

Families

  • I try to nail a classic family portrait in a few photos. This gives me time to take more candid and natural shots of your family being comfortable.

Typical breakdown: 5 classic family shots, 10-15 family candids, 10+ Of the kids (and dogs) doing their thing, plus a few of mom and dad alone.

Family sessions are so much fun for me. I love interacting with kids, and I usually find a way to make them smile, and sit still. However, some of my favorites are of the kids rough-housing!!

FAQs

and info you’ve probably wondered

how do you come up with your rate?

Cost of equipment, shooting time, editing time, and even gas for transportation are considerations for my base rate, and what is worth my time to creatively invest. A good flat number of 300$/hr rounds out to be good for me and for you.

My rate is meant to be fair and competitive. This enables me to earn money while also providing a great deal of professional quality for people in all walks of life.

why is photography so expensive?

Gear is expensive, to start. It is a long, mindful process that extends well beyond the actual shooting time. I tell people that most of what you’re paying for is editing: sorting, choosing, color correcting, and stylizing photos. Creative work isn’t easy!

Do you do weddings?

Yes.

Weddings are a serious endeavor for the couple and photographer. Nowadays, weddings fluctuate in composition, length, and venue. This makes it difficult to advertise a fixed rate. I try to stick to smaller, outdoor venues. I think this fits my style and abilities as an engagement and landscape photographer. Large, indoor weddings are not my specialty, and I tend to send people to other wedding photographers that specialize in that field.

If you have a wedding and are interested, please contact me.

How long do I have to wait to get photos?

I usually try to get photos edited, uploaded, and ready to share in a week’s time. Depending on the time, and my other obligations, it can be shorter or longer. I’ll update as necessary.

What gear do you use?

I began as a Nikon shooter. Many of the photos you see may be from my Nikon days. I love Nikon, but switched to Sony for a few specific reasons related to autofocus, resolution, and mirrorless technology at the time.

I currently use a Sony A7RIII, with a sigma 24-70mm F2.8, and a Sony 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 as my go-to kit. I use other lenses and bodies as required.

How long have you been taking photos?

I’ve been taking photos for 8 years now. In that time, I’ve had incredible opportunities to shoot unforgettable moments recreationally and professionally. There is little I haven’t tried. I’m still trying to get better!
